Practice Information

RBK Pediatrics is a practice devoted to the care of children from birth through the college years. It is our feeling that we should not encourage patients to leave at age 18 years. It is frequently more convenient and efficacious for a young adult during college to continue with us rather than looking for a new physician.
Certainly the patients ultimately make this decision on an individual basis.

RBK’s Mission & Values Primary Care When You Want It, Urgent Care When You Need It.
Services Provided by Physicians.

Our practice is working together to build lifelong relationships between our staff and our patients by consistently providing our patients with compassion, excellence and value.

Physical Exams

Each year at the time of your child’s physical examination, a generic health form is generated by our computer and filled in by your physician. This form encompasses all the necessary medical clearance data required by all institutions. It is to be used in place of all school, camp and sports participation given to you. We ask that you make copies of the original in the event you need to use it more than once. Replacement of this form will be provided at a nominal fee. We will not fill in the individual forms. Should you have an appointment with one child and wish to have a sibling checked, we ask that you call and notify the office so that time will be made available to accomplish this If you walk-in with another child, we will not be able to see this child. Our staff will give you the next available time slot which may be right away or after a couple of hours depending on the season. These are the kind of issues that cause our doctors to fall behind schedule. It is not fair to the patient who has an appointment and is in the office on time. We ask that you give the office at least 24 hours notice if you wish to cancel or reschedule an appointment. There may be a service charge for missed appointments.

We encourage patients to schedule regular check ups in advance. There are various times during the year where there is a rush of requests for school physicals and sports clearance examinations. Please make sure that you do not find yourself in a position, which the child cannot return to school or sports because of medical clearance. We try our best to accommodate all request, but sometimes it may be impossible. Sick Call Visits or Urgent Care Visits are scheduled during the morning. All sick children will be seen that day. In order to be able to provide same day Urgent Care visits, we do ask that Chronic or non-urgent conditions such as (i.e. acne, behavior issues, constipation etc.) be scheduled in advance. Our staff will always do their best to try to accommodate you in the safest and hopefully most convenient way that they possibly can.

At the end of your child’s examination, the doctor will provide a electronic summary of services, including any exams, procedures, tests, or medications that may be billed. This information will be shared electronically through our Digital platform, where you can easily review and manage the details of your visit.  As a fee-for-service practice, payment in full is due at the time of your visit. The parent or guardian accompanying the child is responsible for payment, though if another parent has financial responsibility, we ask that you make payment arrangements directly with them.

We partner with several insurance companies, including HMOs and PPOs, and will process your insurance claims for you. Just be sure to present your insurance card at each visit to ensure we have the most up-to-date information. Sometimes, a double co-payment may apply if laboratory services are provided, so we recommend checking with your insurance carrier to clarify any questions about co-pays or benefits. We aim to make your experience with our office as smooth and pleasant as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re excited to build a positive and supportive relationship with you and your family!

Newborn Visits

Exams for newborn infants are performed at 2 Days, 2 week of age, then at 6 weeks of age.  Visits will then occur at a frequency of every one-month until 8 months when it slows down to every two months until 12 months of age. After that visits will be every three months until 2 years of age and then it is yearly. Some weight checks may also be done within the first six months. This recommended schedule is designed to accommodate the numerous vaccines that need to be administered and to examine the development of the baby. A deviation from this schedule may occur depending on the well care limitation of your insurance company. Please contact them and find out how many well baby check-ups are allowed.

Hospital Affiliations

Our doctors see patients at Good Samaritan University Medical Center, which is also our preferred hospital for sick children. Good Samaritan offers excellent pediatric care, including a dedicated pediatric emergency department, a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and a multidisciplinary subspecialty care team. We work closely with the hospitalists who will admit your child, and the RBK Pediatrics team will take over care the following day until your child is discharged. For our newborn families, we also visit the hospital’s brand-new maternity ward. Simply let the nursing staff know that your doctors are from the RBK Pediatrics team, and they will notify us so one of our physicians can come by to see you and your baby.

We’re here to ensure your child gets the best possible care, both in the hospital and at our practice!

The main telephone number for Good Samaritan Hospital is 631-376-3000.

Office Laboratory Procedures

Our in-office lab is capable of doing throat cultures for strep (including rapid testing), urinalysis, urine cultures, hematocrits (test for anemia), mono screening, testing for occult blood in stools. We also provide Covid and Flu testing.

Telephone System

Welcome to the RBK Call Center, also known as our "Command Center"! When you call for appointment scheduling, billing inquiries, or to set up appointments for our Chronic Care specialty visits, you’ll be reaching our central team at our former Commack office, not a local office. The Command Center is here to assist you with all administrative matters. Appointments can easily be made by phone through the Command Center, or if you prefer, you can schedule appointments online directly from our website. Our team is also available to help with any issues related to appointments, billing, or accessing services, and they can connect you with our physicians via telemedicine or through our secure patient portal. Although you're speaking with our team at the Command Center location, they have a direct link to our clinical offices, so if needed, they can quickly coordinate with our medical staff to assist you further. The Command Center is fully equipped to ensure your experience with us is smooth and efficient. If you need help, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team!

We ask that you give the office at least 24 hours notice if you wish to cancel or reschedule an appointment. There may be a service charge for missed appointments.
